Overview
The short version: Mind Bites is a zero-account, offline-capable app. We do not ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous ad-related signals managed by Google AdMob, which you can opt out of at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains how Mind Bites ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our mobile application available on Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store). By using Mind Bites, you agree to the practices described below.
Data We Collect
Mind Bites itself collects no personal data. The table below covers all information that flows through the app:

Data We Don't Collect
We explicitly never collect, store, or transmit:
- Name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier
- Precise or approximate location
- Device contacts, calendar, camera, or microphone
- Browsing history or search queries within the app (search is local)
- Financial or payment information
- Health or fitness data
- Racial, ethnic, political, or religious information
- Crash logs or analytics (we have no analytics SDK)
Mind Bites has no user accounts, no login, no sign-up. There is no server that knows you exist.
Local Storage & Data Deletion
Mind Bites uses Hive, an on-device key-value database, to store:
- Facts cache — a local copy of the latest facts JSON so the app works offline and loads instantly.
- Read history — a list of fact IDs you have scrolled past, used to display the "Read" badge and progress stats.
This data lives entirely on your device. It is never uploaded to any server. You can erase it at any time via Settings → Reset Progress in the app, or by uninstalling the app.
Third-Party Services
Mind Bites uses the following third-party services:

No other third-party SDKs, analytics services, crash reporters, or tracking libraries are included in Mind Bites.
Google AdMob & Advertising
Mind Bites displays banner advertisements powered by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect:
- Advertising ID (GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS) — if you have not opted out
- IP address (used to infer general region for ad targeting)
- App usage events (ad impressions, clicks)
- Device model and OS version
This data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. Mind Bites does not receive or store any of this AdMob data.
Opt out of personalised ads:
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalised Ads (off)
Mind Bites respects the consent signals set at the OS level and complies with Google's EU User Consent Policy and the requirements of the Google Funding Choices framework where applicable.
Children's Privacy
Mind Bites is a general-audience fact-trivia app suitable for all ages. It contains no violence, no adult content, and no in-app purchases.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). Because we collect no personal data at all, this requirement is satisfied by design.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will promptly investigate and delete it.
Your Rights
Because Mind Bites does not collect personal data tied to your identity, most data-subject rights (access, portability, erasure) can be exercised entirely within the app:
- Access / Export: Your read history is stored locally; you can see it in the Stats screen.
- Erasure: Tap Reset Progress in the Stats screen, or uninstall the app to remove all local data.
- Ad preferences: Managed at the OS level as described above.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or California and have concerns about data processed by our third-party services (Google), please contact those services directly or write to us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when we add new features or integrate new services. When we do:
- The "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated.
- Material changes will be announced via an in-app notice on next launch.
- Continued use of Mind Bites after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. The latest version is always available at the URL shown in the app's About screen.
